Diving and Locations in the Caribbean

Diving in the Caribbean provides any scuba diving enthusiast with a unique combination of highly dramatic wall terrains and incredibly colorful sponge and coral composites and highly flourishing habitats of larger pelagic fish and even the small tropical fishes. The Caribbean boasts of having one of the best conditions for scuba diving in the world. Most divers are particularly attracted to the Caribbean due to enhanced visibility of more than 100 ft as well as average temperatures in the water of about 83 degrees.

There are many diving locations in the Caribbean and the specific site you decide to dive in will largely depend on your desired characteristics and the type of venue you want. The first diving site is the Sting Ray City, Grand Cayman Island where you will find the domesticated feedings of the highly friendly stingrays available in the sheltered bay. The rays can be hand fed and you will be thrilled to see them vacuuming food from your hands. Even though this isn’t the most spectacular diving location of the Caribbean, it is however very popular.

The other diving location of the Caribbean that you should really check out is the Blue Hole, Lighthouse Reef Atoll, Belize which is highly famous due to its unique Great Blue hole with a diameter of 1000 ft. and it is the biggest of its kind in the world. You will enjoy an incredible experience of diving down the hole for about 440 ft in complete blackness and guided dives are offered with deco stops. Another hot diving spot of the Caribbean is the Half Moon Caye Wall which offers a totally different diving experience than ‘the Blue Hole’ located nearby.

The reef and its wall configuration is uniquely dressed with sponges and corals of different color and at 20 ft, you will find the lavish staghorn coral. Colonies of garden eels which seem to be moving in a much slower motion are exposed by sand chutes. There is a great blend of larger pelagic and small tropicals like the groupers, eagle rays and sea turtles. Make sure that you check out the Walker’s Cay as well where you will find the domesticated feeding of the reef sharks. This is an exciting diving spot of the Caribbean that you will surely not want to miss out.

Then there is the Bloody Bay Wall, Little Caymen where you will be thrilled with the green sunlight filtering and clear visibility which combine the delight of every photographer. Starting at 18 ft, the wall comprises of all colors, sizes and types of sponges and corals. There are many smaller reef fish that you will find here like the trigger fish, small tropical, larger grouper, horse- eye jacks, etc… The British Virgin Islands of the Caribbean is where you will find the RMS Rhone Wreck and this is a place that you will surely want to try out. The Caribbean offers an exceptional diving experience and the many spectacular diving spots to choose from.
